Guj Cong refutes Jamnagar mayor's allegation
Jamnagar, Gujarat, July 30 (UNI) Gujarat Congress today refuted the allegation made by Jamnagar mayor Manharbhai Jhala that the mob that had blackened his face, had also tried to kill him.
''Personnel from electronic media were present when the incident took place. It was recorded on their camaras that nobody from the mob had tried to kill the mayor. It's a false allegation made by the mayor,'' Congress spokesperson Shaktisingh Gohel told reporters here. The mob of about 50 people, allegedly led by Congress leaders, had barged into Mr Jhala's cabin and blackened his face on July 24 in protest against the delay in garbage removal by BJP-ruled Jamnagar Municipal Corporation after monsoon.
Mr Jhala in his complaint against the mob had alleged that the mob had doused him with inflammable material and tried to set him ablaze. ''It is a blatant lie. It was only that somebody from the mob threw crude oil over him,'' said Mr Gohel.
