Girl trafficking plot foiled in Bengal

Barrackpore, Jul 30 (UNI) A teenaged girl today foiled her father's alleged attempt to sell her through a tout, involved in women trafficking, at Jagaddal in North 24 Parganas near here.

Police said a case had been registered against the father, Ali Mohammdad Mandal, of Mukundapur under Jagaddal police station on the basis of a complaint, lodged by the daughter, who alleged that he alongwith a tout, had conspired to sell her to a person in Uttar Pradesh.

The girl reported her father's plan to her aunt with whom she used to live because of abject poverty of her parents, police added.

She also alleged of torture by her father when she protested his decision to hand her over to the tout for Rs 50,000.

Police had launched a massive search operation for the tout.
