Four kidnapped, soldier among three killed, RDX recovered in J
Srinagar, July 30 (UNI) Militants kidnapped four people, killed a soldier and a civilian, while security forces arrested five ultras and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition, including RDX, in Jammu and Kashmir overnight.
An official spokesman said militants attacked a security force patrol party at Jalhota, Marmat, in Doda district of Jammu region.
The security forces also retaliated and in the encounter, one soldier was killed. Militants later manged to escape.
Militants also kidnapped one Abdullah, a school teacher at Suber in Ramban district and later shot him dead, while one body was recovered in the city today.
Security forces today foiled a militant plan to carry out grenade and other attacks in the city through three ultras who were being infiltrated into summer capital, a police spokesman said.
He said police and CRPF personnel intensified search operations in city following intelligence inputs about militant plans to carry out blasts and other subversive acts.
He said during routine checking of vehicles, police and CRPF personnel noticed a group of three people moving under suspicious manner in an area under police station Sadder on Srinagar-Airport road.
When challenged, the militants tried to escape, he said, adding police, however, overpowered them at some distance.
Later, two Chinese grenades, one rifle grenade, one pistol, one magazine and 16 rounds of ammunition were recovered from their possession.
During interrogation, the militants, resident of Kandi belt Sopore, said they belong to LeT and were brought here to carry out blasts in the city.
The three were identified as John Mohammad Wandroo alias Latief, Firdous ahmad Gujri alias Saba and Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat alias Khashkash.
Security forces averted a major tragedy when they detected and defused two live grenade at Rajbagh in the city and Anantnag.
