EC postpones bypolls to Ballia LS seat, 3 assy seats in UP

New Delhi, July 30 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) today postponed the bypolls to Ballia Lok Sabha constituency and three Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh.

According to an EC notification issued here the byelections for all the seats -- to be held on August 29 -- has been postponed to August 31 for the Suar Tanda, Gunnaur and Farrukhabad assembly constituencies. The date for Ballia, which falls in eastern Uttar Pradesh, where the flood situation is worsening, will be announced later.

The date of counting of votes in all these three constituencies has been changed from August 31 to September 3 and the date before which the election process has to be completed has been fixed on September 5.
