Bhopal, July 30 (UNI) The government today denied any discrimination in payment of compensation to farmers for land acquired for defence use in lieu of 200 acre land being allotted for expansion of Bhopal airport.

Replying to a call attention notice moved by Mr Ajay Singh (Cong), Minister of State for Revenue Narayan Singh Kushwaha said there was no discrimination in payment and the compensation was paid as per law for 107.534 hectare land acquired in Barkheda-Bonder and Mirpur villages.

Mr Singh alleged that the government had adopted double standard in compensation distribution and pointed out that a hefty amount was given to the Tahsildar's peon for the land acquired.

The farmers got less than market value due to irregularities, Mr Singh said, adding certain irrigated land was shown as unirrigated, while the irrigation facility on a farmer's land was shown as located on another's land.
