Defence grills finger print expert in Mahajan murder case
Mumbai, July 30 (UNI) Defence counsel H H Ponda today grilled finger print expert Rekha Vaidya who had examined finger prints of Praveen Mahajan, who stands accused of murdering his elder brother Pramod Mahajan.
Adv Ponda quizzed Ms Vaidya on the terminology and wanted to know the meaning of ''eyelet''. But, the witness said she had not come across such a word in the standard books on finger print that she had read.
To a question, Ms Vaidya named three books on finger prints that she had read. To another question, she could not tell under what circumstances, finger impressions would not be visible on the pistol.
Asked if more than one specimen of finger print was sent to her for examination, she replied in the negative.
The witness said she could not take possession of the glass on which finger impressions of the accused person was found because after taking photographs and examining the chance prints, the finger print expert's work gets over.
