Congress concern over atrocities on women
Bhopal, July 30 (UNI) The main opposition Congress has expressed serious concern over the increasing atrocities on women in Madhya Pradesh.
During a debate in the Assembly today on the State Women's Commission's reports for 2002-03 and 2003-04, Mr Indrajit Kumar (Cong) urged the government to initiate steps for development of women in all fields by granting more scholarship and hostel facilities. ''There was unprecedented increase in atrocities on women in the state'', he said.
Ms Sudha Jain(BJP) claimed the BJP government had launched several welfare schemes aimed at providing better education and healthcare to girls and to bridge the widening sex ratio, while social evils like child marriage, Sati and female foeticide were being discouraged. She commended the role of Women Commission in checking atrocities on women.
