BSNL targets Rs 500 cr profit this fiscal
Vijayawada, July 30: The Andhra Pradesh circle of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is targetting to achieve a profit of Rs 500 crore in 2007-2008 financial year by providing new connections in various segments, Nigam Chief General Manager S Ramalingam said today.
Talking to reporters here, he said though more number of landline, Wireless Local Loop (WLL), mobile and broadband connections were given, the company achieved only Rs 200 crore last fiscal.
Mr Ramalingam said presently BSNL had 29 lakh landline/WLL, 16 lakh mobile and 80,000 broadband connections across the state.
As plans were afoot to provide four lakh broadband connections and 16 lakh cellular connections this fiscal throughout the state, 1,200 towers would be set up in the entire AP circle, he added.
