Bodies, injured tourists airlifted to Gujarat

Srinagar, July 30 (UNI) Two Indian Air Force (IAF) sorties today airlifted the bodies of five tourists, killed in an explosion in a bus near Mughal Gardens at Shalimar on the city outskirts yesterday, and also about 15 wounded with their 60 attendants to Gujarat.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Mehboob Iqbal, told reporters at the airport here that soon after the explosion, senior civil and police officials rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to various hospitals.

Out of the injured, three underwent major operations.

Briefing reporters at the Srinagar airport, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, S M Sahai said Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad requested the IAF to press into service an AN-32 aircraft for airlifting the deceased and the wounded to Gujarat.

He said adequate medical support has also been provided by the state Health department on board the aircraft.
