Blast being ascertained through chemical tests: J

Srinagar, July 30 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir police today said the nature of the explosion in a bus near Shalimar on the city outskirts yesterday in which seven people, including five tourists from Gujarat were killed and 22 others wounded, was being ascertained.

''The cause of the blast was not immediately known and is being ascertained through chemical tests by forensic experts,'' a police spokesman said.

He said the explosion was of low intensity.

The spokesman said no sooner did the blast occur, all the police officers, including Director General of Police Kuldeep Khuda, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, S M Sahai and others reached the spot.

The wounded were rushed to various hospitals while as precautions were taken so that there was no panic among the people, particularly the tourists, he added.
