Army launches 4-day recruitment rally in Bharuch
Ahmedabad, July 30 (UNI) The Indian Army will hold an 'Army Recruitment Rally' in different trades at the District Police Headquarters Parade Ground in Bharuch from August 2 to 5 for candidates from the state and two Union Territories (UTs).
''I request candidates and their parents not to fall prey to touts. Any candidate who meets the requirements will be selected without any bias and the whole process for the first time has been fully computerised,'' said Colonel S P Sharma, director of recruiting (Gujarat, Dadra Nagar-Haveli&Daman) while talking to reporters here today.
Col Sharma said candidates coming from Vadodara, Anand, Kheda, Bharuch and Narmada would have to be present in Bharuch on August 2, while those from Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Dangs, Dadra and Nagar-Haveli on August 3. Candidates from Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Dahod and Panchmahals it is August 4 and for those coming from Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana and Sabarkantha on August 5.
Col Sharma said no boarding or lodging would be provided to aspiring candidates. Instead, they would be given fast food packets and drinking water. All candidates, however, must be present at the venue by 0500 hrs. Physical and medical tests will be conducted on the same day and in case of heavy rush, medical could be held on the next day. However, written exam for all would be held on August 26.
He said wards of servicemen, ex-servicemen, NCC certificate holders, national/state level sportsmen from all districts too would be screened along with others.
Candidates should possess minimum height of 168 cm, weight 50 kg and chest 77 cm with 5 cm expansion. He should be aged between 17 years and six months to 21 years of age. However, married candidates less than 2 years of age are not eligible.
He said concession would be given to candidates coming from remote region.
Asked about the number of candidates to be selected, he said there is no quota for anyone.
Education qualification for candidates of soldier (general duty) is SSC pass with 45 per cent marks in aggregate and minimum 32 per cent in each subject. For technical, HSC with English, Maths, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects. For soldier (clerk and store keeper) technical, it is HSC pass with any stream candidates with minimum 40 per cent in each subject and 50 per cent aggregate.
For soldier non-matric general duty and soldier tradesman minimum is 8th class pass, Col Sharma said.
The Army has also arranged an IVRS helpline with numbers 9428500190, 9427304393 and 9328220330 and any candidate can feel free to enquire about the details or even contact for any grievance, he added.
