Tripura: 80-yr-old dies, 6 fall ill after consuming fish

Agartala, Jul 30: A man died and six, including two children, fell ill after consuming sea-fish at Kamalpur town in north Tripura yesterday.

Health officials here today said the primary investigation revealed that the fish contained toxic chemicals.

However, the children were out of danger, doctors said.

About three people had purchased the whole contingent of fish at comparatively low price last evening and complained of nausea and vomitting soon after consuming it, police informed.

Among the victim was a 80-year-old man, who died on his way to the hospital, police added.

Police had detained the fish seller for interrogation, who said the fish was imported from Bangladesh and might have been preserved with Formalin, a poisonous chemical.
