80-yr-old dies, six fall ill after consuming fish

Agartala, July 30 (UNI) A man died, while six people, including two children, fell ill after consuming seafish at Kamalpur town in north Tripura yesterday.

Health officials here today said a primary investigation revealed that the fish contained toxic chemicals.

However, the children were out of danger, doctors said.

About three people had purchased fish at comparatively low price last evening and later they complained of nausea and vomiting soon after consuming it, police said.

Among the victim was a 80-year-old man, who died on the way to hospital, police added.

Police have detained the fish seller for interrogation, who said the fish was imported from Bangladesh and might have been preserved with Formalin, a poisonous chemical.
