694 schools upgraded in Haryana

Chandigarh, July 30 (UNI) The Haryana government has upgraded 694 schools during the current academic session.

A new Navodaya Vidyalaya would also be set up over 25 acre land at Bhondsi in district Gurgaon, a spokesman for the Education Department said.

He said 419 primary schools had been upgraded as middle schools and 110 schools from middle to high and 165 from high to senior secondary schools.

He said that no tuition fees were being charged up to middle standard in the Government schools of the state.

An amount of Rs 22.66 crore would be spent on the repair of the school buildings and construction of the additional rooms during the current financial year.

While an amount of Rs. 26.85 crore had been spent on the repair of the school buildings during last two years.

He said that under the national policy of the education Union Ministry of Human Resource Development had setup the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

Under this samiti 19 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya had been functioning in each district of the state except Gurgaon.

These schools were providing quality education to the students and functioning in the rural areas of the state, he added.
