651 pilgrims leave for Amarnath base camps

Jammu, July 30: A batch of 651 pilgrims today left for Pahalgam and Baltal base camps from where they will move towards the holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath in south Kashmir, official sources said here.

The convoy of 21 vehicles, including 15 buses and six light motor vehicles (LMV), left from the base camp of Maulana Azad Memorial (MAM) stadium for Nunwan (Pahalgam) and Baltal yatra camps at around 0505 hrs amid tight scurity, they added.

The convoy consists of 410 men, 134 women, 21 children and 86 sadhus.

With today's batch, the 29th this year, a total of 46,213 pilgrims have left for the holy shrine from the Jammu base camp since July 2, the sources said.
