300 migrant Kashmiri Pandit families visit Valley after 18 yrs

Srinagar, July 30 (UNI) About 300 Kashmiri Pandit families have visited their native village Sangam in Anantnag district after nearly 18 years since they migrated to Nagrota near Jammu soon after the outbreak of militancy in the Valley in 1989.

The families called on Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President and Education Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed and apprised him about their problems.

Mr Sayeed welcomed the Kashmiri Pandit families and assured them of all possible help from the state government for their secure and comfortable stay in the Valley.

The families took part in a three-day 'yagya' at their native village Sangam in Breng constituency represented by Mr Sayeed in the state Assembly.

The migrant Kashmiri Pandit leaders appealed to the Minister to arrange suitable accommodation to the families in their native village instead of Sheikhpora and other places.

Mr Sayeed assured them that the matter would be taken up with authorities concerned and necessary steps taken for their rehabilitation in their native village. He later hosted breakfast to the visiting families on the occasion.
