Chandigarh, July 30 (UNI) On an educational-cum-motivational tour organised by the Indian Army under 'Operation Sadbhavana', 30 children from various villages along Nubra and Shyok valleys of the Ladakh region visited the city today.

During their one-day stay in the city, the children visited the Raj Bhawan and other places like the Rock Garden, the Rose Garden and the Sukhna Lake.

Accompanied by two teachers, the children started their 23-day tour from Partappur on July 25 and would be travelling upto Vishakhapatnam visiting New Delhi, Hyderabad and other important cities enroute, an official release said.

These children have got an opportunity to step outside Ladakh region for the very first time. From Chandigarh, the tour party would proceed to New Delhi.

The release stated that these children would be spending two to three days in each city witnessing the unique cultural heritage and the developments taking place in the country so as to develop a sense of pride at being citizens of a great Republic and act as ambassadors of national integration.

"The people of Ladakh have been the real force behind the armed forces' success in defending the 'Frozen Frontier'. They have always extended a helping hand to army wholeheartedly. Till a few decades ago, Ladakh was the most isolated part of the country, unaware of the progress and developments taking place in rest of the country. Today, the army feels proud to have initiated so many projects that would go a long way in the overall development and progress of this remote region." the release said.
