2 killed, 34 hurt as bus hits van

Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, July 30 (UNI) Two women were crushed to death and 34 sustained injuries when a state transport corporation bus collided with a tempo traveller at Pattaraiperumandur, near here, today.

The bus, coming to the city from Tirutani, was negotiating a ''blind turn,'' when it collided head-on with the tempo van proceeding towards Tirutani.

The women were identified as Shanta Bai (61) and Sruti (41) who were in the van, police said.

While ten of the seriously injured were admitted to the Government General Hospital in Chennai, others were treated as out-patients in the local government hospital, police added.
