Tribals stage dharna to protest against harassment
Madikeri, Karnataka, July 29 (UNI) Tribals, living on the fringes of Nagarahole National Park, today staged a dharna in front of the Tahsildar's office at Virajpet in Kodagu district to protest the harassment by forest officials.
The tribals alleged that the police had foisted cases on them, colluding with the forest officials.
They warned of serious consequences if the harassment continued further.
The agitation was led by Tribal Agitation Committee President Bhojamma.
The tribals also complained about the supply of sub-standard goods to them under the Tribal Development Scheme, sponsored by the government.
