SP MLA, nine others booked for attempt to murder

Bahraich, July 29 (UNI) Nine people, including Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA and Uttar Pradesh's former minister Dr Wakar Ahmad Shah, were today booked for attempt to murder, fraud and corruption.

Superintendent of Police B R Mani told UNI that a daily newpaper journalist Rafeeq Ulah Khan had registered a case against the SP MLA for the criminal activities performed by him in the last Assembly election.

On the orders of Principal Secretary (Home), a case was lodged under IPC 147, 148, 323, 504, 50, 307, 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, 452 and Anti Corruption Act section 13/1 (d).

In the last Assembly election, Rafeeq had published articles against Dr Shah and also charged him of having a fake MBBS degree.

Irked over this, Waker Ahmad, along with his supporters created ruckus at the newpapers premises, damaged office property and also attempted to kill the journalist.

UNI
