Pvt sector to be encouraged in power generation in Kerala
Palakkad, Kerala, July 29 (UNI) Kerala Electricity Minister A K Balan today said private entrepreneurs will be encouraged to generate more electricity in the State.
The Kerala State Electricity Board would buy the electricity generated by the private parties on a tariff fixed by the Electricity Regulatory Authority, he said after the inauguration of construction of wind farms at Attapadi, near here.
The Government would make efforts to generate more electricity, Mr Balan said, adding that steps had been taken to generate 2,000 MW electricity.
Suzlon Energy Ltd would be setting up wind farms at Attapadi and in the first phase, likely to be commissioned by September, 7.2 MW of electricity is expected to be generated.
