Port Blair city to get super specialty hospital soon

Port Blair, July 29 (UNI) Andaman and Nicobar administration is planning to construct a 100-bed capacity super specialty hospital here, the proposal for which has already been included in the XIth five Year Plan.

A total of 4 acres of land has already been allotted to the department for setting up of the proposed hospital, which, when materialises, will have the facilities like Urology, Dialectology, Nephrology, Gastroenteritis, Neurology and Neurosurgery, N Sadasivan, the Director of Andaman's Health Services told UNI today.

The Director said that the super specialty hospital of will come up at Dhoodline area of Port Blair.

He said the Directorate of Health services is also planning to upgrade bed facilities in some health institutes, adding that bed strength of 50-bed Rajendra Prasad District Hospital at Mayabunder, North Andaman will be increased to a 100 bed, while it would be doubled for the 100-bed capacity Bishop John Richardson District Hospital in Car Nicobar.

Besides, the construction of 20-bed PHC at Kishori Nagar, Middle Andaman will be completed by the end of this year which will have the OPD facility besides provision for a minor operation theatre, Dr N Sadasivan added.
