Over 6000 cases settled in Lok Adalats in Haryana

Chandigarh, July 29 (UNI) As many as 4062 bank loan cases which were pending and were at the pre-litigative stage were settled in special Lok Adalats held at all the districts and sub divisional courts of the state and a sum of over Rs 13.61 crore were realized.

While giving this information, Member Secretary, Haryana State Legal Services Authority, Mr Arun Kumar Tyagi disclosed that in addition to bank loans, cases pertaining to other categories were also taken up in these special Lok Adalats and 6487 cases of all categories, including bank loan cases were settled throughout the state in these special Lok Adalats held yesterday.

Mr Tyagi revealed that in the state 3067 Lok Adalats had been organized so far and as many as 6,64, 725 cases had been settled through the medium of Lok Adalats by mutual consent during the course of which more than an amount of Rs 241 crores as compensation had been awarded in 31,120 Motor Accident Claim cases to the accident victims.

He said that 25,565 persons had so far been provided free legal services and 3672 legal literacy and legal awareness camps and seminars were held not in the remote and rural areas but also even in the urban slums also by the Legal Services Authority.
