Meghalaya invites industrialists from Bengal
Shillong, Jul 29: The Meghalaya government has invited the entreprenuers from West Bengal to set up a five star hotel here.
The government had also assured the industrialists to provide them with a suitable land for the same.
State Chief Secretary Ranjan Chatterjee had hold a meeting with the members of the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BNCCI) recently in Kolkata in this regard.
The meeting discussed various projects like setting up of a four-land highway between Shillong and Guwahati, plan for development of Shillong bypass, a proposal for Guwahati-Silchar railway link and a broad-gauge railway connecting important places in Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills.
Stating that Meghalaya had good supply of power and water, Mr Chatterjee informed the Chamber that 11 new power projects had been planned of which four would be executed by the Meghalaya State Electricity Board and three by private firms.
Meghalaya also enjoys additional incentives as per Central policy, which would be made available to the investors, Mr Chatterjee told the industrialists.
On tourism sector, Mr Chatterjee said Shillong had several tourist places and there is further scope of developing this sector.
