Mamata accuses CPI(M) of 'double role' in AP and WB

Kolkata, July 29(UNI) While condemning the police firing at Khammam, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee today accused the CPI(M) of playing a double role in Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal and demanded dismissal of the Left Government for continuing 'state terrorism' in Nandigram.

''We condemn any instance of police firing on the people taking part in genuine democratic movement. But the CPI(M) is maintaining a double standard. If what has happened at Khammam is a sin, it is double the sin the party is committing at Nandigram,'' she told a press conference.

Alleging that CPI(M) men from outside were attacking Nandigram everyday with bombs and bullets, Ms Banerjee warned that if this continued, the Trinamool Congress would 'immobilise' all Government functioning.

Her allegation came the day fresh violence broke out in Nandigram in which two CPI(M) men were shot dead and as many Trinamool Congress supporters were injured.

''I have heard that the UPA Chairperson has called for a report on the Khammam incident. I will tell the Centre that if you take action against the Andhra Pradesh Government, take action against the West Bengal Government as well. This Government has no moral right to continue,'' she said.

Ruling out any possibility of holding talks with Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee to shoot down the tension over Nandigram and Singur, Ms.Banerjee alleged that the he had not kept any of his earlier commitment.
