Haryana Bijli Nigam to increase capacity of sub stations

Chandigarh, July 29 (UNI) The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has decided to augment the existing capacity of twenty 33 KV level sub-station during the current financial year by installing higher capacity transformers.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Nigam said that the Nigam was expecting 14 per cent load growth this year and the system was being streamlined accordingly to meet this growing requirement.

He said that in order to promote the habit of energy conservation among consumers, the process of providing CFLs and tubelights at subsidised prices at the Nigam's customer care centres and Bijli Suvidha Kendras was being taken up with different firms.

The farmers were also being educated about the use of energy efficient pump sets and they were advised to use only energy efficiency marked motors.

The spokesman said that the Haryana Government had already declared the year 2007-08 as the "Save Electricity Year" and in this direction, the Nigam has recently authorized Indo Asian Switchgear to sell CFLs of 11 watt 15 watt, 20 watt and T-8/36 watt tubelights at the rate of Rs 67.50, Rs 75, Rs 100 and Rs 32 respectively.

He said that to overcome the shortage of CFLs, the Nigam had recently signed a MoU with Osram India Ltd to provide 7.5 lakh CFLs free of cost for domestic consumers of Yamunanagar and Sonepat districts. He said that this step of the government would go a long way in bridging the gap of demand and power supply.
