Eleven killed, 15 injured in road accidents in TN

Chennai, July 29 (UNI) Eleven people were killed and 15 others seriously injured in three separate road accidents in Tamil Nadu since late last night.

Police said, seven people were killed and nine injured when a van in which they were travelling collided head-on with a lorry at Chockanathanputhur on Madurai-Tenkasi National Highway in Virudhunagar district this morning.

The occupants of the van were on their way to Courtalam Falls, a tourist place, when the accident occurred. The injured were admitted to Government Hospital Sivagiri.

In another accident, three people were killed and two others seriously injured when a car in which they were travelling dashed against a tree at Abishekhapatti village near Tirunelveli.

The victims were on their way back to Tirunelveli after a trip to Courtalam. The injured were admitted to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital.

In the third accident, one person was killed and four others injured when a car in which they were travelling collided head on with a lorry at Valavanur near Villupuram.

The injured were admitted to Jipmer Hospital, Puducherry, police added.
