Hyderabad, July 27: Talks between the Left parties and the Andhra Pradesh government on land issue failed late tonight with both the parties sticking to their stand.

The Left parties, demanding the appointment of an independent commission on land distribution and protesting against the brutal lathicharge against communist party workers, said they would continue with the bandh tomorrow.

Talking to media persons after a meeting with the three-member committee of ministers set up by the government to resolve the deadlock, TDP and BJP leaders expressed their solidarity with the Left parties bandh and gave a call to their cadres to observe it.

Autorickshaw unions, who have been fighting against fixing of electronic meters, also said they would participate in the bandh.

Section 144 was imposed in several parts of the state and the Road Transport Corporation (RTC) has withdrawn several services.

In view of the bandh, several exams that were to take place tomorrow have been postponed.
