New Delhi, July 28 (UNI) Former Union Minister and BJP Minority Morcha President Syed Shahnawaz Hussain today cautioned Muslims not to fall prey to the false promises of the Congress-led UPA government which was least bothered about their welfare.

Addressing the National Executive of the BJP Minority Morcha headed by him, he said the Sachar Committee, one of the three committees set up by the UPA Government to look into the problems of the minorities, spoke about the conditions of Muslims in the country.

The reports of the other two committees were still awaited even as the Government had completed three years of its five-year term, he said. "I like to ask Prime Minister Manmohan Singhji how you will begin treatment of a patient lying on the death bed if you have not completed even preliminary examination of his condition," he said.

He castigated the UPA Government, particularly its biggest ally, Congress for spreading disinformation that all terrorists are Muslims. He said it was only the BJP which had always propagated that all Muslims were not terrorists. Those who stayed back in India after partition were honest to the country, he said, while admitting that some youth did go astray to fall prey to terrorist organisations due to wrong policies of the government and unemployment.

He said the Congress had been befooling the minorities in their 45 year rules earlier in the name of 15-point programme to ameliorate the Muslims economically and educationally. "Today, Congress leaders do not remember the 15-point programme," he said.

Syed Shahnawaz said that the Sachar Committee had recommended more promotional avenues for the minorities in view of their backwardness.

He said the Government by talking about extra facility of loans to muslims, had admitted that the minorities were discriminated against disbursement of loans. "I would have appreciated the Government gesture if it had asked the bankers to provide loans to all honestly so that persons belonging to the minorities do not have the feeling of a second class citizen," he said.

Calling upon the muslims to be part of the national mainstream and the development of the country, he asked the government to ensure that land belonging to the Wakf Board was returned to the Muslim body.
