Over 25,000 birds culled in Manipur due to outbreak of bird flu

New Delhi, July, 28 (UNI) Over 25,000 poultry were culled yesterday in Manipur, the third day after the outbreak of Avian Influenza was notified in the state.

The pace of control and containment measures was further intensified yesterday with 34 Rapid Response Teams, including two teams sent in the afternoon as re-enforcement, deployed for undertaking culling operations. A total of 22 villages/areas were covered on the third day in the culling zone.

Total number of poultry birds culled yesterday was 25,094 while 3,277 eggs and 2,245 kg of poultry feed were destroyed.

Today, 28 villages/areas have been identified for culling and proper sanitization works in the culling zone. For this work, 30 RRTs have been deployed.
