Mother, 3 children jump into canal in Punjab
Sangrur, July 28 (UNI) Three children aged between two to seven years were drowned, while their mother was rescued after they had jumped into the Bhakra canal near Ladh Banjara village in the district today, police here said.
Giving details, police sources said that Rajwinder Kaur alongwith her two daughters, Birpal Kaur (7) and Khushi (5) and two-year old son Gobinda jumped into the canal after informing a village resident that she was going to commit suicide. Labourers working in the near by fields managed to rescue the mother and the son and rushed them to the civil hospital here.
However on reaching the hospital, the son was declared dead while the mother was saved. The bodies of the two daughters had not yet been found.
The police on the statement of the brother of Rajwinder Kaur registered a complaint at Kinnauri police station. In his complaint the brother alleged that his sister was being mistreated by her husband and she had been staying with her parents at Ladh Banjara village for quite sometime.
The police has refered the complaint to Sunam police station as the husband of Rajwinder is a resident of Chajla village. After investigatings the police is likely to register a case against the husband.
