Nagaland: Mokokchung DC cautions on ILP

Kohima, Jul 28: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mokokchung district in Nagaland has issued an order to take extra precaution while renewing or issuing the Inner Line Permit (ILP) to people from Assam's Karimganj, Cachar, Silchar and Hailakandi districts.

Officials here today said DC Abhishek Singh had issued said no application for renewal or issue of fresh ILP to any person belonging to these districts would be processed without relevant documents.

The order also stated that henceforth the certified copies of electoral rolls, prescribed by Election Commission of India, would only be accepted as proof of residence.

He also said it was observed that many ILP holders supposedly belonging to these districts of Assam have left Mokokchung following the call given by the Ao Students Union against illegal migrants from Bangladesh there.
