Mob goes on rampage as girl died in accident

Panchkula, July 27 (UNI) An irate crowd set on fire police vehicles in Panchkula town tonight after a teenaged girl was killed in a road accident.

The incident occurred after Ram Ratti (15), a resident of nearby Railly village was run over by a Scorpio jeep near sector 12 this evening. The girl kept lying on the road unattended for over two hours and died on the spot.

When a police gypsy came after two hours, an irate crowd of local residence set it on fire. Another police vehicle that came on the spot later was also burnt by the crowd. The mob also damaged a fire brigade vehicle.

Police later brought the situation under control with great difficulty and rounded up about ten people.

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced an assistance of Rs one lakh for the victim's family.
