Minorities commission demand a seperate ministry in Raj
Jaipur, July 28(UNI) Rajasthan Minorities Commission has demanded a seperate ministry to look after the welfare activities of the religious minorities in the state.
While talking at a Open Discussion organsied by the Journalist Association of Rajasthan(JAR) here today Commission chairman Jasveer Singh said presently various institutions concerning the religious minorities fall under different administrative departments of the governemnt. For instance, Madarsa Board and Urdu Academy comes under the Education department while Haj Committee is controlled by the Home department.
In the same way Wakf is being controlled by the Revenue depertment even as Minorities Finance commission is under the Co operatives department. The Minorites Commission itself functions under the Social Welfare Department.
He said the Minorities commission will deliberate on the need for a separate ministry to co ordinate with various welfare activities concerning the minorites and impress upon the government on the issue. He said the Central government and many state governments have already formed seperate ministry for the minorities.
Mr Singh also annoucned the launching of a helpline service to provide all kinds of assitance to a person belonging to minorities in distress and register their problems with the commission. Jasveer Singh also demanded that the two districts of Jaisalmer and Ganganagar be included under the 90 minority districts in the country.
He also claimed that the Jansunwai programme organised by the commission have been a great success and was able to instill some kind of confidence among the monorities. He said under the programme organsied in eight districts 350 complaints were addressed.
