Minister denies favouritism in implementing programmes

Bangalore, July 28 (UNI) Karnataka Power and Public Works Department Minister H D Revanna today denied opposition charges in the Assembly that he had shown 'discrimination' while implementing various programmes pertaining to his portfolios.

Replying to a discussion pertaining to his departments, he said he had never stooped to such low level and had treated all assembly constituencies equal. However, if there were any shortcomings in any constituency as alleged by the members it would be set right, he assured.

Speaking on Power situation he said Detailed Project Reports were being prepared to implement new schemes to generate 5000 mw power by investing Rs 20000 crores in the state. While Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) was implementing programmes worth over Rs 9000 crores, the Karnataka Power Corporation (KPC) had taken up works worth over Rs 4500 crores. The Transmission and Distribution loss was brought down from 33 per cent to 27 per cent, he added.

Mr Revanna, elder brother of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, also dealt at length with regard to buildings works taken up by Public Works Department pertaining to various departments. The state government had availed Rs 1139 crores from the National Bank for Agriculture Development for road works and entire funds would be spent by end of March next, he assured.

He said the second phase of infrastructural project works in six new medical colleges involving Rs 240 crores would be taken up soon.
