Many areas in north-west region experience rain

Chandigarh, July 28 (UNI) Many areas in north-west India were lashed by monsoon showers overnight, providing respite from hot weather conditions.

Light to moderate rain was recorded in certain areas in Punjab with Nangal Dam turning the wettest place recording 32.4 mm rainfall till this morning. Ludhiana measured 1.4 mm and Patiala 0.6 mm while Amritsar reported trace rainfall.

Parts of Haryana also experienced moderate rain. Ambala recorded 13.8 mm, followed by Karnal and Nelokheri registering 12.4 mm each rainfall.

Many areas in Himachal Pradesh, including Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Kasol, Kahu, Gamroor, Naudan and Bharthin also experienced moderate to heavy rain. Una with 35.0 mm rain was the wettest place in the State.

Shimla and its surrounding areas were also lashed by rain. Shimla recorded 0.3 mm rainfall overnight. Tourist places of Wildflower Hall, Kufri, Naldehra and Narkanda also had intermittent rainfall.

Rain also lashed Chandigarh and its adjoining areas last night, providing relief from humid weather conditions. The city recorded 2.8 mm rainfall overnight.

The Met Office predicted moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers at many places in Himachal Pradesh and light to moderate rain or thundershowers at few places in Haryana and Punjab during the next 24 hours.
