Haryana: Life imprisonment for murder accused
Kaithal, July 28: A local court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for committing a daylight murder in Kaithal town in 1995.
While announcing the judgement yesterday, Additional Session Judge Dr Neelima Shangla sentenced the accused, Pohlu, a resident of Rasida village in Jind district, to life imprisonment and fined him Rs 50,000. The Judge ordered that if the accused failed to pay the fine, he would further undergo imprisonment for three years .
According to police sources, Pohlu accompanied by Bhoop Singh and Daljit Singh fired at Dhoop Singh, who had murdered the father of Pohlu, in the Lal Peo market here in 1995. After killing him, all the three accused ran away from the spot.
After some time the accused were arrested and were put on trial.
Bhoop Singh and Daljit were convicted by the court in 2003, however Pohlu did not turn up in the court and was declared a proclaimed offender by the court.
He was recently arrested by the police and put on trial.
