KSO opposes construction of NIT at agricultural land
Imphal, Jul 28 (UNI) The Kuki Students' Organisation(KSO) in Manipur has opposed construction of the National Institute of Technolgy (NIT) on agricultural land at Langlol foothills near here.
The KSO reacted strongly to the government's plan to acquire 300 acres of land for establishment of the NIT at the cost of Phaipijang village, KSO officials said.
The KSO claimed that land acquisition would lead to destruction of six high schools, four orphanages run by charities, ten religious establishments, 317 houses and 274 plots.
''The Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government must change its plan. The NIT could be built at hill areas rather than the highly congested Imphal areas,'' KSO officials suggested.
