Flood in Cooch Behar turns grim, One drowned to death
Cooch Behar, Jul 28 (UNI) Flood situation in the district continued to be grim as it claimed one more life taking the toll to two, District administration said here today.
The body of one person, who was drowned in river Torsa under this sub-division, was recovered, said district magistrate Rajesh Sinha.
While the body of another person drowned in the Mansai river under Mathabhanga sub-division remained still untraced, he said.
According to the district administration, the water of the Mansai river is above danger level while the waters of the rivers-Torsa and Sankosh under Toofan ganj Sub-division are just below the danger mark.
In the entire district at least 25,000 people have been affected so far while that of 17,000 have been moved to relief centre, Mr Sinha informed.
Altogether 113 villages in the district were affected and about 500 families in Mathabhanga, Kedarhat and Jorshimuli have been severely affected for last three days, said Mr Sinha.

Army
will
be
called,
if
necessary
to
control
the
situation."
