Copper, aluminium prices ease on thin industrial demand

Mumbai, July 28 (UNI) Prices of copper heavy and aluminium suffered a setback due to lack of fresh demand in line with the London Metal Exchange (LME), traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said today.

In the ferrous metals group, copper heavy crashed by Rs 300 per quintal on thin industrial demand in view of discouraging advice from LME along with Kolkata, Delhi and others.

In the non-ferrous metals segment, copper wire bars and aluminium ingot prices also declined by Rs 100 and Rs 50 respectively on sustained heavy offers and bearish advices from Delhi, Kolkata and other centres.

Nickel cathode, however, looked up by Rs 5 per kg on some good buying support by local dealers.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 35,200, Copper utensils - Rs 31,500, Brass utensils - Rs 25,600, Brass cuttings - Rs 27,000 and Aluminium utensils - Rs 11,500.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 38,600, Aluminium ingots - Rs 13,650, Zinc slabs - Rs 18,500, Lead ingots - Rs 11,500, Tin slab - Rs 745 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 1,480 (per kg).
