Cop wounded, militants flee after encounter in Doda
Jammu, July 28 (UNI) An officer of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was wounded in an encounter with Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants in Doda district, official sources said here today.
Acting on a tip-off about presence of three hardcore Hizbul militants in Chirala area, south-west of Thathri, the 4 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 26 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 153 Territorial Army (TA), CIF and Special Task Force (STF) launched a search operation and cordoned off the hilly Kothi general area, late yesterday night, the sources added.
During the operation, another group of militants started cover firing to save their men, the sources said, adding that all the three militants managed to escape taking advantage of cover firing early today.
During the encounter, Malnaye police post in charge Mohammad Ashraf got serious wounds and he was referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) here.
