BJP trying to stage backdoor entry in Goa: Congress

New Delhi, July 28 (UNI) The Congress today charged the BJP with trying to capture power in Goa through the backdoor with the help of the forces of destabilisation.

The BJP had never succeeded in winning any election in Goa and always tried to come to power through dubious means, AICC spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters.

The developments in Goa had more to do with ''economics and commerce'' than with ''politics and ideology,'' he said.

The vested interests which did not like the Goa government's announcement on the review of the development plan had joined hands with the BJP to bring down the Congress-led government, he said.

Asked whether the party was admitting to losing majority in the state, Mr Singhvi said the right forum for proving the strength of the government was the floor of the Assembly which would be done on Monday or Tuesday.
