BJP launches campaign against reservation to Muslims
Vijayawada, July 28 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today announced a three-month village to village campaign in the state to protest against the proposed four per cent reservation for socially and educationally backward Muslims in education and government jobs.
Announcing this at a press conference here, BJP State Unit President Bandaru Dattatreya said the campaign would last upto september 25.
He alleged that providing reservations to minorities was 'unconstitutional' even after the apex court and high court passed orders against it.
Despite learning lessons from the judgements of the courts, the government was introducing the reservation to the minorities, which was totally unacceptable to the BJP, he said.
The Congress and TDP want reservation to Muslims to garner their votes in the next elections, he alleged and added reservations on caste and religious basis would divide the country.
