Another batch of pilgrims leaves for Amarnath

Jammu, July 28: A batch of 1490 pilgrims today left for Pahalgam and Baltal base camps enroute to the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir, official sources said here.

A convoy of 35 vehicles, including 35 buses and seven light motor vehicles (LMV), left from the base camp of Maulana Azad Memorial (MAM) stadium amid tight security for Nunwan (Pahalgam) and Baltal yatra camps at around 0500 hrs, they added.

The convoy included 1013 men, 288 women, 43 children and 146 sadhus.

With today's batch, a total of 44,967 pilgrims have left for the holy shrine from the Jammu base camp since July 2, the sources said.
