Chennai, July 28 (UNI) The opposition All India Anna DMK (AIADMK) today announced a protest demonstration against the Centre and the Tamil Nadu Government on July 31, for not operating train service in the newly built broad-gauge section between Madurai and Rameswaram.

In a statement here, AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa said though it was more than two months since work in the broad-gauge had been completed, it was yet to be thrown open for rail services.

To protest against the Centre, which was ignoring the interest of the public by not opening the sector for rail service and the DMK Government, which was a constitutent to it, the AIADMK would organise a protest demonstration in front of the Ramanathapuram Railway station, she added.

The demonstration would be led by Jayalalithaa Peravai Secretary N Thalavai Sundaram in the presence of Ramanathapuram district secretary M Soundarapandian, she said, and urged volunteers of party's various wings and general public to take part in the agitation.
