Two kg RDX recovered after interrogation of HuJI militant

Lucknow, July 27 (UNI) The Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh police today recovered two kgs of RDX and two detonators buried under a shop following the revelations made by a HuJI militant, during interrogation.

STF DSP Jai Prakash, who led the recovery team, told UNI that the explosive and the detonators were recovered buried in a dilapidated shop on the Unnao bypass. ''We were interrogating Noor Islam who was arrested in Kolkata...it was on his information that we recovered the contraband hidden inside a dilapidated shop near Super House factory in Unnao,'' he said.

Noor Islam is a Harkat ul Jehad Islami (HuJI) terrorist arrested from Kolkata by the West Bengal police after the arrest of HuJI area commander Babu Khan from the UP capital.

The Lucknow police had brought Noor Islam to Lucknow on July 17 on a transit remand, and since then he is in the custody of the city police.

Earlier, the three terrorists arrested from Kolkata had led the STF to to another cache of detonators, grenades and P3 type plastic explosive buried near Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute and hospital (SGPGI) in Mohanlal Ganj area.

Cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine, also known as RDX, cyclonite, hexogen, and T4, is an explosive nitroamine widely used in military and industrial applications.
