Talks with Left parties to avoid bandh inconclusive

Hyderabad, July 27 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government's talks with the leaders of Left parties to avert the proposed bandh tomorrow was inconclusive and talks were still going on to resolve the matter.

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhra Reddy held a meeting with the Left parties today in the morning which was attended by the CPI (M) Floor leader Nomula Narasimhaiah and the CPI Floor leader Chala Venkata Reddy and other leaders of the left parties.

In the afternoon, the left parties had a meeting with the three member group of Ministers - Home Minister K Jana Reddy, Transport Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana and Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao - they placed their demands including the Constitution of the Commission with autonomous powers to deal with the land related problems.

The ministers had briefed the deliberations with the Left parties to the Chief Minister. The third round of talks were going on with Left parties by the three member group of the ministers.

The Left parties also demanded for an independent vigilance system to supervise land distribution in the state.

They were demanding that the government should regularise the land occupied by Left party activists during the 'Bhu Poratam' (land struggle) in the state which was reportedly not agreed by the government.

The Chief Minister had already announced yesterday in the House that 74 recommendations of Koneru Ranga Rao committee would be implemented. The remaining 30 recommendations would be under study.

The Left parties had called for a statewide bandh tomororw in protest against the police lathicharge on their leaders and activists who laid siege to the district collectorates across the state yesterday.

TDP had extended their support to the bandh call given by Left parties.
