NEEC appeals to poultry farmers not to reduce prices of eggs
Pune, July 27 (UNI) The National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC) has appealed to poultry farmers not to succumb to pressure from traders and reduce prices of eggs following reports of Bird Flu in Imphal and Manipur.
Prices of eggs are expected to remain stable and there will be no setback to egg exports and neither there would be a fall in egg prices, a NEEC release said, India exports about eight containers of eggs per day to Middle East, Africa and Far East. Presently, due to high temperature conditions in the Middle East, demand for eggs has been subdued there, and bulk of the nearly 70 per cent of exports are going to Africa and Far East, which are unlikely to ban or suspend the imports from India.
With the summer season being over, demand in the domestic market has increased and there is shortage of eggs in most of the markets, the release said.
