Anand, July 27 (UNI) For the first time after independence the Gujarat government has transformed 'nari shakti' into 'nirnay shakti' through active participation of women, said Chief Minister Narendra Modi today.

Addressing the 26th mahila sammelan at Ode village, 18 km from here, Mr Modi said that economic revolution would reach women through one lakh 'sakhi mandals' in the State. The financial independence of women would be achieved and women will be proud to be independent from the age-old yoke of male domination, Mr Modi declared.

For the first time after independence, government has offered opportunity to women to play a pivotal role in decision-making.

Properties registered in the name of women are exempted from stamp duty and thsu more than three lakh women have become property owners, he said. In the allotment of houses and land under the government scheme, women would have the first right. It is mandatory to reflect mother's name after the child's name, Mr Modi said.
