Bihar govt cancels leaves of its officers in view of floods
Patna, Jul 27 (UNI) Bihar government today cancelled leaves of all government offices and employees posted in flood affected areas and directed the ministers-in-charge of the districts and secretaries to review flood situation in their areas on regular basis.
A decision to this effect was taken at a high level meeting convened by deputy Chief Minister Sishil Kumar Modi.
After the meeting, Mr Modi told newspersons here that sufficient funds had been released to the respective districts to step up the relief and rescue operation in the flood affected areas.
He said District Civil Surgeons had been authorised to purchase medicines worth Rs 50,000 for distribution among flood victims without taking formal permission from the parent department, as practised earlier.
''Due to shortage of fodder in flood ravaged areas, the directives had been issued to district Animal Husbandry Officers to make arrangements for distribution of fodders,'' he added.
